24/06/09GAE’s July Perivale Workshop Expands to ‘Mini-Exhibition’

Production Efficiencies On Live Demonstration - from start to finish

The July 7-9 dates added to GAE’s ‘GET SMART!’ workshop series are taking on a mini-exhibition status as more than 20 leading manufacturers announce they are to show product and money saving offerings at the event.

Among the highlights will be Renz’s Northprint launched AB 500 HS semi automatic bookbinder. Designed to tackle both calendar and book work it can produce up to 1600 books or calendars per hour thanks to an automated shingle conveyor delivery system and optional book / calendar stacker. The touchscreen allows for faster and pre programmed makereadies.

Renz sales and marketing manager Daniel Pooley said: “This high speed binder allows printers a lot of flexibility as they can bind from a few sheets all the way through to 250 sheets. This enables them to offer a far wider portfolio of products from traditional A5 and A4 work with capability to take on wider format contracts. And the automatic product ejection to a shingle conveyor provides smoother and faster productivity.”

Savings can be made at the front end of production too thanks to the CGS Publishing Solutions range of proofing workflow and consumables. Highlighted at the event will be Oris ColorTuner/Web, Press Matcher and Ink Saver.

ORIS ColorTuner/Web is an integrated hard- copy and virtual proofing system while ORIS Press Matcher produces high-resolution files to standardise colour across multiple platforms – bringing high-quality, consistency to all print projects. Lastly, a process separation optimisation programme, ORIS Ink Saver is designed to improve printing and save on ink or toner used.

Paul Norton, CGS product development manager, said: “Clients are looking for consistency and repeatability to the ISO print specification. With Ink Saver printers can do this and achieve an average 15% saving on ink which is significant – especially in this economic climate. We are also demonstrating Colour Tuner Web which helps encourage people to use soft proofing to reduce consumable materials use and cut costs.”

According to GAE joint MD Bryan Godwyn the opportunity is one to rival recent trade show offerings:
“With 785 square metres of active floorspace and cutting-edge solutions from more than 20 leading manufacturers on live demonstration, we feel time spent here will prove to be a valuable investment for any printer intent on surviving the recession and building new business.”

In addition to the core automated Horizon folding, saddlestitching and perfect binding systems that have created so much interest at recent events in Scotland and Yorkshire, the Perivale event will feature bindery-wide processes, including guillotine flowlines, bookletmaking, 3-side trimming, paper handling, creasing, laminating and varnishing, wire binding, envelope inserting, wrapping and polybagging. Also on demonstration are pre-press colour management, ink optimiser and cross-platform colour calibration software, CtP and litho printing, large format inkjet printing, plotters and cutters and roll-fed integrated sheeting and converting lines.

Manufacturers represented include: Horizon, Perfecta, Dürselen, MGi, Mitsubishi Paper Mills, Shinohara, Toppy, Italdibipack, Kirikko, Renz, GBC, Lasermax Roll Systems, CGS-Oris, Plockmatic, Fujipla, Nagel, Fastback, Varn, Tork, Flint Group, Agfa (Anapurna), Esko Artwork (Kongsberg), Drytac.
