Leeds All-rounder Invests in Horizon BQ-470 Binding and AF-566 Folding Systems

Leeds-based Creative Print is to add perfect binding to its finishing capabilities for the first time after signing for a Horizon BQ470 from IFS as Ipex closed its doors on Friday night. The litho and digital operation also invested in an automated all-buckle AF-566F B2 folding system.

Creative Print Ltd was established in 1990 by Managing Director Delroy Goodison. He explained the decision to expand the bindery was made to help meet the increased demand from customers for perfect bound products. He was impressed with the four-clamp BQ-470 system’s ability to bind books up to 65 mm thick at up to 1,350 bph. It also has a large icon-based colour touch-screen for esay operation and an economic footprint thanks to a vertical elliptical track design – essential for rapidly-expanding Creative's restricted floorspace.

The litho and digital operation is to also upgrade its folding with a Horizon AF-566AF which boasts 40,000sph, 200-job on-board memory store and 17 fold pattern pre-selection program.

Mr Goodison comments: “We have a number of systems from IFS including the StitchLiner, an automated Horizon combination folder and a Perfecta guillotine. We trust their systems to do what we want them to. We had a look at other options on the market but we like IFS which is why we signed on the day.”

IFS Joint Managing Director Bryan Godwyn says: “Strong customer relationships are a fundamental part of the our ethos and it is great to see how that can pay off with operations like Creative Print. Ipex provides us with a fantastic way to show our portfolio and enable our clients to see clearly the wide range of products available.”

"One of the attractions of the Horizon machines is their high level of automation. Although you do need some skills to run them, they are among the easiest on the market and don’t take long to learn, even for relatively inexperienced people"

"You need quality machinery to produce quality work and stay competitive. You can’t stand still in print, you have to move forward and keep ahead of the game”

"Horizon has become the industry standard. I've watched them evolve over the years and they are way ahead of their rivals”
