01/05/09GAE WORKSHOPS BEAT THE ‘RECESSION BLUES’

GAE Initiative Hits the Mark

Following the success of its autumn series of GET SMART! workshops, GAE is to hold further events at Perivale, West London (July 7-9), Livingston, Scotland (May 19-21) and Rotherham (June 2-4).

The programme illustrates how next-generation bindery systems can help printers to cut waste, improve quality and make better use of existing human and capital resources to compete more effectively in the marketplace and win work for their presses.

Processes highlighted include folding, saddlestitching and perfect binding and visitors can see live demonstrations of the latest fully-automated systems from the UK’s leading supplier of JDF-ready finishing solutions.

Bryan Godwyn, Joint Managing Director of GAE comments: “We are very aware of the challenges facing the industry at this moment and our workshops have been developed to show printers at every level how a prudent investment in the bindery can introduce credible production solutions without exposure to risk. Measures announced in the budget have made this the ideal time for printers not just to upgrade, but to revolutionise finishing capabilities to grab market share now and put themselves in the driving seat when the upturn comes.”

GAE Joint-MD, Tony Hards, adds: “Automated finishing systems can help win work and fill the presses and this is what next-generation bindery systems from Horizon bring to the party. For a modest capital investment printers can add a system to their finishing firepower that will allow them to compete more effectively and get better value and productivity from their existing fixed overheads. That’s why we say ‘when the going gets tough, the tough GET SMART!’

“At times when the pressroom is working under capacity we can demonstrate how the latest bindery systems can be a ‘magic bullet’ for a printer’s business by reducing outgoings, spreading overheads and improving the quality and efficiency of his service.”

A further GET SMART! Workshop is planned for Dublin in conjunction with Reprocentre at a date to be announced.
