Herts & Essex Invests in Future Horizon

Hertford B3 general commercial operation Herts & Essex Printers has chosen the UK’s top-selling saddlestitcher, an Horizon StitchLiner 5500 from Intelligent Finishing Solutions, to help future-proof its business.

“We have a rolling programme of investment to ensure that we keep up to date with equipment and production capabilities,” explains Chris Ollard, joint director of the £2m turnover firm.

As well as this company ethos, the decision was made more pressing by a change in kit at a nearby a trade finisher used by Herts and Essex Printers for long run jobs.

“Then we thought we could have a system that would produce four-page sections making inhouse production that much easier,” says Mr Ollard adding, “We are always looking for ways to complete work quicker. This will also allow us to do more jobs with quicker turnaround times.”

The StitchLiner will complete work from the operation’s five SpeedMaster 52s, two two-colours, a four-colour, a five-colour and a six-colour.

It will run alongside an existing Duplo system and Mr Ollard comments: “It will allow us to do a lot more jobs inhouse and that will save us time, money and help us be more responsive and competitive.”

Key deciding benefits of the fully-automated 11,000bph Horizon StitchLiner were the easy set up and fast make readies facilitated by  a high profile icon-based colour touchscreen. Also instant job storage and recall that is ideal for short runs and aids turnaround times.

Also part of the spend was an MKU-54 mobile knife trimmer for endorsed folding that help keep mailing costs to a minimum.
