Tecnau joins the IFS line up at Print Efficiently

IFS will showcase technology from Tecnau, its newest supplier partner, at this year’s Print Efficiently, October 6, 7, 8 and 20, 21, and 22, being staged at both IFS and Apex Digital Graphics showrooms in Hemel Hempstead.

Held for the fifth time, the annual event will present a Tecnau Stack 2020 digital print feeding and finishing system that operates in line with continuous feed digital printers at speeds up to 137 m/min. Ideal for transpromo, graphic arts and books, it delivers 1-up, 2-up or 3-up offset stacks ready for binding utilising the Buffer 530, Cutter c20 and Stacker s20 units.

All modules in the Stack 2020 system incorporate Smooth-Web motion technology to gently transport paper from the printer to stacked output. This synchronization of the entire web to changes in speed provides unprecedented reliability and drastically reduces the likelihood of any paper jams. The system can variable cut and stack on the fly, enable flexible control of waste pages and deliver document integrity control.

During Print Efficiently it will be processing preprinted rolls offline from a Fujifilm JetPress 540W Continuous Colour Inkjet Printer to produce A4 and A5 offset book blocks ready for perfect binding on a near-line Horizon BQ-470 four-clamp perfect binder.

“There are many production and cost efficiencies that reel fed print offers from time savings to cost reduction and the Tecnau solution ensures those savings are equally deliverable in the post production department,” explains IFS Managing Director Bryan Godwyn. “End-to-end production is made seamless by these solutions are we are looking forward to showing visitors to Print Efficiently just how easy these operational benefits are to introduce.”

Booklet production will be demonstrated by the 5,500bph (11,000 two-up) Horizon StitchLiner which incorporates flat sheet collating, scoring, folding, stitching and three-knife trimming inline. It will include the CF 30S cover feeder used to apply covers or insert loose sheets. User-friendly set up is via a large colour touchscreen while job memory storage enables the quick and easy recall of repeat work.

Landscape booklet production will be presented by the 4,000bph (3,500bph A4 landscape) Horizon SPF 200L with HOF-400 digital sheet feeder. It offers numerous settings for a wide variety of booklet formats, ranging from CD to A4 landscape, all of which can be performed automatically through the user-friendly large colour touchscreen panel. An error reject function allows non-stop operation and the system can be further enhanced with Horizon’s pXnet bindery control system which integrates JDF workflow from upstream devices.

For perfect bound books there is the 1,350cph Horizon BQ-470 four-clamp perfect binder with an interchangeable glue tank for EVA hotmelt and PUR hotmelt adhesives. Fully automated set-up is via a 10.4 inch colour touchscreen with intuitive icons. It offers simplified and accurate changeover to produce professionally finished books up to 65mm thick.

The Horizon AFC-566 combination super B2 cross-folder, too, features user-friendly large colour touchscreen to allow fast, efficient production. It has an innovative wireless remote for greater flexibility, performance and ease-of-use, memory recall of up to 200 job settings and a 17 built-in fold pattern templates.

The cost of making dies are eliminated by the Horizon RD-4055 die cutter that delivers one pass processing at up to 6,000 cycles per hour. Simple and easy to operate it’s uniquely designed servo motor includes a controlled “Repeat Register” feature that allows multiple-up applications from single-up die.

Suitable for paper, board or even films and foils, rubber, leather, sandpaper and many other materials either in piles or single sheets, the Perfecta 92 TS guillotine is a highly accurate and productive heavy-duty guillotine. Perfecta products are not only employed as single machines, but are also integrated into cutting systems with paper handling options such as stack-lifts, joggers, unloaders and pile turners.

Lamination options on demonstration are the Vega 400 B3+ laminator and the Taurus 530 B2+ laminator. The 18mpm Vega is designed for heavy duty lamination and features a rising pile front separation stream feeder. There is an in-line trim slitter and a perforating wheel. The 35mpm fully automatic medium class, heavy duty Taurus 530SF is suction fed using a Becker pump. Both feature a high speed bump separator, a non-sticky pressure roller, an interactive icon touch screen control panel and a warm up time of 10 minutes.

Concludes Godwyn: “We aim to show how our mix of new and well-established solutions continue to ensure customers remain at the forefront of postpress technology, performance and capability. We are committed to helping them meet ever-changing market demands that in turn will support their continued growth and profitability.”
