Linney has elevated its bookletmaking production following investment in a Horizon iCE StitchLiner Mark IV next generation saddle-stitching system from IFS.
The Mansfield sixth generation multichannel marketing services group chose the StitchLiner, paired with a HOF-400 high-speed digital sheet and cover feeding system with integrated 1D/2D barcode verification system to ensure highly automated booklet production with 100% integrity for booklets with personalised content.
Linney director Charles Linney, explains: “We carried out a full market review and explored a range of options, as we always do when making an investment in new kit. The Horizon StitchLiner stood out for its high-speed variable pagination and exceptional accuracy.
“It is perfect for short-run, on-demand production with fast setup time. Together, these features will increase productivity by almost three times more than our older machine.
“Our main reason for purchasing the Horizon StitchLiner MK IV was to keep up with increasing customer demand for stitched books and booklets. It also ensures we are in complete control of our production area. Our clients are at the heart of our operations and this strategic investment helps us stay true to our Healthy Linney values to “never let a customer down”.
“We focused, too, on aligning our production capabilities with our clients’ and the wider market’s evolving needs. Our clients are increasingly looking for personalised booklets rather than generic ones. The barcode camera reading capabilities offer greater accuracy.”
He continues: “The barcode reading feature also allows for precise job tracking and ensures the correct page sequence, reducing errors and enhancing workflow efficiency. This combination offers high-speed, variable pagination stitching, folding, and trimming while seamlessly integrating variable data.”
The Horizon iCE StitchLiner Mark IV achieves high quality booklet production at speeds of up to 6,000 booklets per hour. It is equipped with iCE LiNK that uses cloud technology to automate workflow from upstream to post-press. It provides access to an intuitive, easy to use dashboard that reports real-time production analysis for improved efficiency and profitability, remote update capabilities and scheduled maintenance resulting in less downtime. The information is accessible via smartphone, tablet or desktop PC and the software is designed for integration with MIS systems.
Charles adds: “We are using iCE LiNK, which offers real-time production data with full traceability and an audit trail. This is vital information for some of our clients, who wish to check the accuracy of the work we produce for them.”
